Sony Ericsson's w200a Shouts a new Walkman Concept – Affordable

Sony Ericsson’s Walkman series have definitely revived and rescued the previous diminishing Walkman brand – with those Walkman-branded Discmans and the semi-mediocre Sony digital audio players, I must say I was beginning to lose faith. When the Walkman was first announced with the w600i amongst those leading the pack (one of which I proudly own), I immediately saw the brand being revitalized. But I knew it would be a pretty costly investment – although I got a good dealfrom CIBC’s connection to Rogers, I still treasure my phone and I’ve used it for a record-making two years. I can say from personal experience that if you want a consistent, yet higher-class phone, the Walkman series is for you.

The w200a caught my eye, when I was looking around for a new phone – the w600i just isn’t cutting it anymore. It was $29.99 CDN with a 3-year contract, probably one of the least expensive prices I’ve seen when compared to the other various Sony Ericssons. However, it’s specifications also reflected such a price: lack of Bluetooth, a sub-standard screen size (160 x 128) and its 0.3 megapixel camera were my main concerns about such a phone. However, I can anticipate it’s build quality will be great, and it certainly is quite affordable.
If you’ve invested your money elsewhere or find yourself in need of a simpler basic phone, or if you’ve yet to give Sony Ericssons a try, the w200a will be a great way to kick things off. It’s got the most essential features packed in the phone – but I suggest you bring along a separate digital camera and a Nintendo DS or Playstation Portable for gaming (the screen is a tad too small and could hurt my dear readers’ eyes).
